A To B Sequencing

A TO B SEQUENCING VIDEO PROJECT 2

What Was The Assignment?

The assignment was to make a video that had A to B sequencing. A to B sequencing is to start or be in one place and then move to another place. With in the A to B sequencing the six shots had to be incorporated. The shot that was to be used the most was close up and extreme close up.

The Process

The process in making this video took four days. On the first day teams of two people were made by the teacher randomly drawing names from a cup. Once the teams were all made, the next step was to collaborate with each other on what the video was going to be about. My partner and I worked on the storyboard as we collaborated. After the story board was finished and checked by the teacher. We checked out a Ipad and a tripod. I first filmed my partners' scenes for the video using the six shots and the 180 degree rule. The next day my partner filmed my scenes. Then we set up the camera then filmed the scenes with both of us in the shot. Once all the shots were done, I loded the videos onto my computer. Using Adobe Premier, I edited all of my clips together to make my one video. Lastly, I posted the video on Google Classroom and YouTube.

What I Learn Along The Way?

I learned how to use A to B sequencing in videos. I also learned that it takes a long time to film and place the camera in all the places you need. I also learned how to make a interesting "travel" video using the six shots more that one time. I learned that more than half of the shots should always some type of close up or extreme close up.

What I Would Do Different? What Would I Do The Same?

For my next video I would like to learn how to add sound. I would also work on better extreme close ups. For my next video I will keep how my partner and I made the storyboard. The way we shot the clips by doing one persons scenes first and then the other persons scenes. This helped with managing time for this project.

What Experiences Will I Draw From To Enhance Your Project?

I should add some more wide establishing shots and just close up shots. It is good to always to have the camera on the same side for every shot.

General Thoughts And Conclusions.

The collaboration on the storyboard was good.  I would have also liked to have some more class time to edit my video. Work on the rule of thirds some more.

My First E9 Video Project

What was the assignment?

The video above was the first assignment I made for e9 film class. The assignment was to sketch out a storyboard. Then we were told to film a short video that incorporated the six shots of film, wide view, extreme wide, over the shoulder, extreme close up, close up, and medium close up.

Process

The first step for this assignment was to come up with a story with a beginning, middle, and end. Once I came up with an idea, I picked up a storyboard paper. On the storyboard paper, I sketched out what I wanted, for each different shot in each of the boxes. The minimum of boxes with a different shots from the six shots in film was six boxes that were 3 to 5 seconds long. However I decided to use nine boxes to tell my short story. When the storyboard paper was finished, I had to get it approved by my teacher. After my teacher approved my storyboard, I checked out an iPad and a tripod. Next, I went to go film with my filming partner after my teacher was finished explaining how to use the equipment. My partner and I went to film in the a school courtyard shot by shot. After we finished filming I sent my many videos to my computer. On my computer I used Adobe Premiere to edit and put together my clips to make my final video. I uploaded my video to YouTube and Google Classroom once I was down.

What I learned

Through this assignment, I learned many different computer programs and film techniques. All which are vital to know how to use when doing any kind of filming or editing. I learned how to use the program, Adobe Premiere. I also learned how to use an iPad on a tripod to film. I learned about the rule of thirds. I learned about the rule that if you film on one side of a person or object you stay on that side(the 180 rule the axis line).

What I would do different? What I would do the same?

If I were to ever do this project again, I would try to add more action or movements and facial expressions to my video. I would also try to add music to the video next time. I also need to work on not crossing the 180 line the axis line. In the next video I make I need to make a better story line  If I made another video it would have no talking in it like this video.

What experiences will I draw from to enhance your next project?

I loved when I got to sketch out my storyboard and I think I can have a longer storyboard. I also think one of the best places to film was out in the courtyard and in the spring or on a sunny day it would be perfect. Adding music would also enhance my next project and make it look more exiting.

General thoughts and concussions

This was a very different project than I have ever done. Though, I don't care for being in front of the camera I would prefer being behind the camera. I loved making the storyboard and I can't what till I get to make another even better video and storyboard.

Six Shots In Film

The six shots wide view, extreme wide, over the shoulder, extreme close up, close up, medium close up

The photo on the left is an example of an over the shoulder shot. This shot can be used in multiple ways the main reason is so you see what that  person sees in their perspective.

The photo on the right is an example of a extreme wide shot. This shot can also be called an establishing shot. The establishing shot is used to describe were some thing is located.

The photo below of the eyes is a good example of an extreme close up. The extreme close up is used to focus on on something, like the eyes, to show that this part of the person is engaged and focused.

The photo below  is a good example of close up. This shot can be used to to show who is talking or making some kind of face.

To the right this photo is a wide view photo. A wide view shot is used to show the whole character or characters, and some of the background. This shot can also be used to show who is being an action.

The photo below is an example of a medium close up      shot. This shot is used often to show multiple people in  action, speaking, or if they are just standing in a position.

e9 Quarter 2 Reflection

What are your areas of strength in the content areas that you learned this semester (animation, graphic design or video)?
In graphic design I was good at using the sketch book to sketch out my ideas to put into illustrator. I was good at using photoshop for the first time in animation class.

What are your areas in need of improvement?

I would like to improve my skills in adobe illustrator for graphic design. Also, I would like to improve my skills on making things congruent in sketchup when they need to be. I want to learn more ways to use photoshop for animation.

What did you love most about this semester?
I can't say which class I liked better than the other because I loved all the projects in both classes. I think my favorite project that I did in graphic design was the sketch for a social problems. Then for animation class I loved making the arcs and animation project in photo shop.

What would you change or do differently?
In animation class I would change how I animated the bird in the arcs and animation project. I would have also spent more time on the animation of the bouncing ball so that it would not have some glitches in the animation of the ball falling and coming back up.

What is your overall take-away or learning from this semester?
My overall take-away from this semester is that I want to now learn more about animation and graphic design. I loved learning how to animate in photoshop. I also loved learning how to use illustrator and would like to do more graphic design projects on that program in the future.

What’s one goal you would like to set for next semester? Final thoughts?
My goal for next semester is that I want to ace my Q4 project. I want to be in animation class and graphic design class next year.

Web Design Reflection

What was the process? How long did it take?
The process of this project started by going into google classroom. Then, I had to watch six videos that my teacher made. In the videos my teacher showed me how to add files into Dream Weaver. Dream Weaver is the program I used to make my website on. After all the files I needed were on Dream Weaver I learned how to add a photo of my self and the information I wanted on my web page. My teacher showed me how how to read the code and how to make links.

How did you use your time in class?
I used my time very efficiently in class. I did not have to work on the website on the finals day. I had already finished the day before because I did not wast any of the time I was given.
What were some challenges you faced?
I faced some challenges at the end of the project. I had to make my links look more like links. So I had to copy and paste a section of the code multiple times. Then I had to change the names in the code. This took me multiple times of re-watching the instructions to figure it out.

What did you learn along the way?

Along the way I learned about code. I also learned how to read some of the code. I also learned how to add color to a website.

What is your overall opinion on the web design process and your final outcome?
I think the the web design process was okay. It was not my favorite project I have done. However, it was good for something different. I liked the design part of this project the best part. I really liked my final outcome. I would consider making another website with more design on it.

House Animation

Process
The first step to the house project was to find a photo of a real life house and its house plans. Next I made the base of the house using the pencil tool. After the base was made I used the push pull tool and pulled the base up 9 feet. Then I used the offset tool to make the roof. After I set the offset tool about 2 inches out from the base I push pulled the roof up about 11 feet because that is how high the house plans said the roof was. After I made some adjustments on the roof I made windows using the tape measure, rectangle tool and offset tool. Then I used the paint bucket tool and painted the edges and that side of the house a wood pattern before using the push pull tool to make the windows. I then made the gutters by using the push pull tool on the ends of the roof  and then using the offset tool to go in .5". After the offset tool was set, I used the push pull tool to push down about 5". Next I made stairs and the deck using the rectangle tool, push pull tool, and the pencil tool. Lastly, I made the sidewalk and landscaping.

Whats New
Learning how to make a full house was new. I also learned how to use the ware house. I learned different ways to use the selective tool and move tool.

Take Always For Next Time
Next time I would have chosen a simpler roof design. Also, I would have found more colorful plants from the ware house.
