Learning presentation skills

This week I learned presentation skills and the processes of presenting. On Monday the e9 class got a three page packet over " How to give a short class presentation." There are two parts to a presentation: information and show. There are many different components at how to present information. During a presentation you must always speak loudly but not yell, so that the people you are presenting to can hear you. You must also speak in a clear tone, slowly, so that the people can understand what you are talking about. When you maintain good posture, have a smile on your face, dressing nice, and giving good eye contact with your audience will make you look more professional. Being engaged and varying the tone of your voice will keep your audience interested in your presentation. Two of the most important things you should not do are step back and forth, pace or dance, Also avoiding the words "um, so yeah, uh, like, ext" will make you sound like you know what you are talking about and sound more professional.

After going over good presentation skills we had to evaluate three Ted presentation on how they dressed, their facial expressions, how much eye contact they gave, and their posture. We had to rate them with a 1 as no good at all to a 5 for good. The first speakers name was Bill gates. I gave his a 4, for professional appearance. I only gave him a 4 because he was wearing nice cloths, dress pants and a button up shirt but the shirt didn't look very professional to get a 5. For facial expressions he got a 3 because he had a very gloomy expression and showed little change in his Facial expressions, His eye contact how ever was phenomenal earning him a 5. He kept eye contact with his audience through out his whole presentation. Lastly his posture got him a 4 he had an okay posture he was bent over a little that is way he did not get a 5 in that category. The next speaker's name was Bjorn Lomberg. He got a 3 for professional appearance. He was wearing jeans, which are never professional, but his shirt was decent. He got a 4 for facial expressions because he showed better facial expressions than the previous presenter. He got a 5 for eye contact, he kept eye contact with the audience through the presentation. He also got a 5 for his posture, he kept his posture for the whole presentation. he last presenter's name was Jamie Oliver. He got a 3 for his professional appearance because he was wearing jeans and a not so professional shirt. For his facial expression I gave him a 4, he smiled at the appropriate times and got serous at the appropriate times. His amount of eye contact earned him a 3. He had very little eye contact and at one time turned his back to the audience. Lastly his posture got a 4 because he leaned on the table at one time.

I presented my sketchbook and blog on Thursday the 22. I first told the class my name. Then I showed them my sketch. I was very nevus and was shaking but I think it went well. I read my blog and tried not to say "um, uh, like". I  believe my poster and eye contact were good. I did speak loudly and clearly. After I finished presenting, I showed my sketch again. Then I went back to my seat.

THE SKETCH BOOK

On Monday, September 12-16, 2016,  I was assigned my first project in the sketch book. I was assigned to make an Illustration of "What is graphic design".
My first step to this assignment was to lightly sketch out my design. I first drew a black line from about 1/4 down diagonally from the top of the page. After I drew the line, I sketched the words "What is" on the left side of the line with the tops of the letters on the line at a diagonal. The words "Graphic Design" were then placed on the right side of the line horizontally. The letters of "What is Graphic Design" were all in block form of typography. I chose this type of typography because it is very eye catching and pops out nicely. Next, I drew a side of a face on the left side of the paper. I colored the face platinum for a neutral color that wouldn't clash with the other bright colors. Then I put pop labels in the hair, every other large strands. I used four pop labels: AW, Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Crush. I love the different ways the logos are designed. I also love using these pops and ice cream to make ice cream flouts. The strands of hair that don't have the pop labels are dotted with the color from the surrounding colors. I added swirled patterns on the top corners of the right side of the line. I made the patters Fall colors, for a different variety of warm colors among the cool, green color. The light blue hand that is behind the words "Graphic Design," represents the strong friends and family relationships in my life.  My favorite part my assignment is the face with the pop logos in the strands of hair. I love this part the best because it was the most creative part of this piece, in my opinion. This project was fun and I would love to do is again.

THINKING ABOUT COLOR by Brianna Scott

My favorite color is violet. My old room was this brilliant color. Also my childhood revolved around this color. I had a stuffed dog that was a pretty light violet when I was little. Logos that have this color in them are the Hallmark logo and the Yahoo logo. If I could change the color of the inside of the school it would be light violet because it makes me happy and calm. Many foods like plums, eggplant and grapes are all this color. Although many of the foods I listed have a darker tint to them, my favorite color is more of a tent than a shade. My favorite color is a bright tint of violet like in the photo to the right.

My least favorite color is black. Black reminds me of the dark night. Black also reminds me of death. Black also reminds me of the dresses and suits at funerals. Food that is this color is black licorice. I do not like black licorice either.  I would never want to change the color of any buildings to black because it is such a sad and drowsy color. This is the dark color you add to other colors to make shades, there for it is neither a tent or a shade.

Learning how to use Adobe Illustrator

My name is Brianna Scott and I am currently enrolled in a 21st century program at my high school called e-communications. In this class I am leaning new skills in graphic design.

August 30, 2016
My teacher had us install Adobe Illustrator onto our computers. She showed us how to make a new file and how to use the typing tool. Which needed to put our names on the paper. The next tool she showed us was called the rectangle tool. This automatically made a rectangle once you clicked on the paper, Then you can make the rectangle larger are smaller. The assignment that she assigned us was: to make a circle, star, rectangle, square, and polygon, using the rectangle tool. After we made the shapes, my teacher showed us how to add color to each of the shapes. First I had to click on the shape that needed color. Then I clicked the color I wanted for my shape from the color guide. My shape had color now. I colored all of my other shapes different colors and agusted their sizes.

On this day, I learned how to use the shaper tool. This tool I personally think is more easier to use than the rectangle tool. The shaper too allows me to draw the shapes like a circle, After making the shape I want I can lengthen or shorten the shape like the rectangle tool. unlike the rectangle tool the shaper tool allows me to put another shape on top of a shape and erasing the lines that I don't need. On this assignment I first had to make a big circle. Then I clicked on the circle and made it in to a "pack-man" like shape. Next, I made a medium/ small size circle. I then moved that circle to line up with the middle of the circle to the middle of the "pack-man" mouth. After, I lined up the circle I erased the lines inside the "pack-man" shape. I colored the shape red. Next I made a small circle, then moved that circle onto the corner of the second circle. I erased that circle which created a dent into  the other circle. I made one more very small circle and colored it yellow. I placed the yellow circle on the edge of the cut of the circle. Finally I made a rectangle then colored it blue. I then made it the size of the page. I right clicked on the rectangle and put it behind my circles.

I finished my assignment from the other day, then started my third assignment for this week. My teacher told us that our last assignment for the week was to use the new tools we learned, to make our own graphic designs. I made a face in moon with stars around the moon. I made this because I love looking at the moon and stares at night. When ever I look at a full moon, I always see a face which makes me think of the story about the man in the moon. This gave me the inspiration for this graphic design project.I made a face using an four small ovules (for the ears and eyes). One large size ovule was used for the head. I also made four more circles, two used for the color of the eyes. The other two were used for the pupils of the eyes. I used  I made one large circle and colored it white to gray to black shade. I put the moon over the face and then clicked on the face so that it showed up in the moon. Finally, I used the rectangle tools to make multiple stars. I made the stars yellow and placed them around the moon.
